I’m Terri-Lynn. Not many people know what to do with a hyphenated name (thanks Dad), but slur it all together as one name, and that’s me!
Whiteskye Cottage is my online home where you’ll find wholesome recipes, healthy tips for cooking on a budget, tips and tricks to make your house (or cottage) the home of your dreams and a few DIYs for good measure. My hope is that you’ll be inspired to live the life you’re looking for, find some inspiration, explore ways to take back control of your life. Come with me as I explore ways to embrace a life that’s a little more simple and far more abundant.
MY STORY
I am your quintessential, “type A” corporate workaholic. With barely enough time for birthday parties and family get togethers, I never made the time for the important human things, until recently. I currently work a successful corporate career in the pharmaceutical industry and if I let it, my days can consist of long hours, high stress and poor eating. Balance, mental health, healthy eating and fostering a healthy environment were never a priority. A few years ago, after a decade of high intense stress, my body was finally starting to break down. It got to a point where I was in so much pain on a daily basis, it took everything I had to get out of bed and get to work, let alone function.
I was diagnosed with several autoimmune disfunctions. First, it was Orthostatic Hypotension, then Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, then Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (aka POTS). I discovered I couldn’t eat eggs…everything delicious contains eggs! I was heart-broken about eggs and mentally broken thinking I was weak. Eventually (and after several doctors told me they couldn’t help until I dealt with the stress levels) I realized my work and lifestyle were affecting my health, so I opted for a perspective change. I didn’t want to up and quit my job and I didn’t have the financial cushion to float even if I did. I created Whiteskye Cottage to share my insights, healthy recipes, and lessons I’ve learned in the kitchen and the home to help make your space a happy, relaxing one where you can recharge.
You can practice self-care and taking life “down a notch” – while chasing your goals! Because it’s all about balance.
